There are few things worse than losing a close game, unless it’s losing a close game that you were leading by a substantial margin. Huge blown leads have been the Senior Bro’s lot in back-to-back weeks of this young season that now has him looking up from a 4-game deficit in the GBF standings.

Things quickly devolved in Week 3, which for a while on Sunday morning looked like it could be a breakout day for Glenn. There were four splits on the line, including the Saints at the Packers, with QB Jordan Love making his first home start. Sean took the Pack while Glenn had visiting New Orleans, who behind Derek Carr opened up a 17-0 advantage at halftime and looked very much in control of their own destiny… until they weren’t. Carr took a hard sack in the third quarter that sidelined him with a shoulder injury. Enter Jameis Winston, who demonstrated why he is no longer a starter while failing to move the ball as Green Bay suddenly found its rhythm and amassed 18 unanswered points in the final 12 minutes of regulation to steal the victory.

The outcome was eerily reminiscent of last week’s meltdown by Denver in a 2-point loss to Washington after having led by 18 midway through the second quarter. That would be the same Denver squad that got — to put it mildly — shellacked by Miami in a 70-20 blowout that only missed setting the all-time NawFuL scoring mark by one team because Dolphins Coach Mike McDaniel didn’t want to run up the score any further with eight minutes left in the game. What a good sport.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Cleveland, playing at home without its star running back Nick Chubb, had no problem dispatching Tennessee, 27-3, leaving Glenn with a pair of must-win games to keep from losing more ground. It could have been much worse. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a 15-10 win at the Jets as Zach Wilson’s hail mary pass on the final play came up just short of completion.

That left Glenn with another tall task as the Raiders hosted the Steelers in the Sunday night game. After a surprise 32-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Garoppolo to Davante Adams on fourth-and-one that put Las Vegas in front midway through the first quarter, the Raiders offense and defense both broke down as Pittsburg rattled off 23 unanswered points in a 23-18 win that helped the Junior Bro to a 3-1 record in the week’s splits.

Sean’s 11-5 record was the week’s best, while Ben notched a 10-6 record to place second and Glenn brought up the rear at 9-7. We found agreement on winners San Francisco, Detroit, Miami, Buffalo, Seattle, Kansas City and Philadelphia. No one picked Indianapolis, Houston, L.A. Chargers or Arizona to collect victories.
