It was a bad week for upsets, which was good news for the Junior Bro. Sean broke into the win column for the first time this season, sweeping a pair of splits that cut his Surfy deficit in half as the Bros registered their picks from more than half a world apart — Sean from the coast of Vietnam and Glenn from the cerulean blue shores of Maui, Hawaii. But it was the Senior Bro who was left feeling blue by Week 7’s results.

Few weeks are as clear-cut as this one turned out to be. The oddsmakers were right on the money with all but Thursday night’s opener, when Cincinnati tripped up visiting Pittsburgh, 33-31 — the only game that none of us got right. As for the rest, it was a losing strategy to go fishing for splits, which Glenn found out the hard way Sunday.

Miami floundered badly against Cleveland, falling 31-6 in the morning. In the afternoon slate, the Chargers proved no match for the AFC-leading Colts, losing at home, 38-24. As the oddsmakers predicted, the underdogs were dogs.

Sean won the week with a near-perfect record, going 14-1 to move to within 2 games of the Surfy lead. He also trimmed a game off of Ben’s imposing advantage in the overall standings; King Chaos took second place with his 13-2 record, now 8 up on his uncle and 6 up on his dad, who finished third at 12-3. We correctly picked 11 winners in the L.A. Rams, Kansas City, New England, Carolina, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, Green Bay, Dallas, Detroit and Seattle. The only winner we all missed was Cincinnati.
