Let’s hop into the GBF Time Machine, because we have to go back a few years to find the last time the Senior Bro led the Surfy standings by at least 4 games. It was New Year’s Day of 2017, and Glenn was hoisting the trophy on his fourth consecutive championship, capping his longest streak of success in recorded Gehlke Bros history. It’s too early to tell if there is another title lurking at the end of the current season, but if there is we’ll surely bookmark Week 4 as a pivotal moment.

Following two lazy weeks in which there were zero splits to ponder, the Bros managed a pair of them in Week 4, starting with the international game Sunday morning between the Vikings and Steelers in Dublin, Ireland. The European fans hoped for a thriller in the first regular season game to be played on Irish soil, and this matchup didn’t let them down. The Steelers built up an 18-point lead midway through the fourth quarter before the Vikings came storming back with a pair of late touchdowns and nearly stole away a comeback. But the Steelers D got the job done, forcing quarterback Carson Wentz into an incomplete pass on a fourth down on Minnesota’s final drive to seal the victory, 24-21.

Sean’s hopes for redemption rested with the New York Jets at Miami in the first game of a Monday night double-header — a battle of two winless division rivals. The Dolphins drew first blood on a Riley Patterson field goal midway through the opening quarter and never trailed en route to a 27-21 victory in their teal-and-black home uniforms. It was their 10th straight home victory over the Jets going back to the end of the 2014 season.

The results doubled Glenn’s lead in the standings to 4 games on a week that also saw the league’s first tie game in nearly three years, when the Packers and Cowboys settled a thriller at 40-40 on Sunday night. We also saw the crop of undefeated teams thinned to two, as only the Bills and Eagles have remained perfect. Meanwhile, the Titans and Saints joined the Jets as the remaining teams still seeking their first victory of 2025.

Glenn and Ben tied for the week’s best record at 11-4-1 as King Chaos retained his spot atop the overall standings by a single game. Sean ended the week at 9-6-1, slipping to 5 games behind his nephew overall. It was a solid week for the home teams, who also went 11-4-1. Our mutual correct picks included Seattle, Buffalo, Houston, Detroit, New England, Philadelphia, Chicago and Denver. In addition to the tie game, we also collectively failed to pick Jacksonville and the N.Y. Giants.
