Thanksgiving weekend marks the beginning of the home stretch of the 2025 GBF season. Time for some easy pickin’s as we kick back for that holiday smorgasbord that is the Thanksgiving Day menu of NawFuL games — three of them — all designed to be blissfully ignored as we digest the turkey and gravy and one last bite of pumpkin pie. Or maybe not. Seems that somebody forgot to tell the oddsmakers that their predictions were full of stuffing.
0-for-4. That’s how Thursday went, along with its throwaway companion known as the Black Friday game. As the Bros broke bread with family, they snuck occasional peeks at cellphones just long enough to realize that it wasn’t just their stomachs getting upset. So were the Lions… and the Chiefs… and the favored Ravens. 1-2-3… down they went in flames. Pass the Mylanta. Et tu, Eagles? Yup. Plucked by the Bears while we surfed the web for gifting ideas. It would seem a pattern was emerging in Week 13, and the Football Gods (along with the Vegas bookmakers) were laughing at us all.
With the appetizers going down hard, it seemed reasonable to expect a chaotic weekend to continue as we entered Sunday’s main course. It produced a pair of splits for Glenn and Sean, with the Senior Bro riding with the roadies in both games, desperate to staunch the bleeding of a lousy November and four consecutive losing weeks. For a change, luck was on his side. San Francisco traveled to cold and windy Cleveland and got its first win there since 1984, beating the Browns and rookie quarterback prodigy Shedeur Sanders, 26-8. Meanwhile, Houston continued to make its case for the postseason while hanging on in Indianapolis to defeat the Colts, 20-16, in a high-stakes divisional showdown.
The 2-split sweep — his third of the season — helped Glenn to a 10-6 record and a return to the lead in the Surfy Standings. It also kept him 7 games behind Ben in the overall standings as King Chaos tied for the week’s best mark at 10-6. Sean took third at 8-8 in the first full 16-game schedule since Week 4 in late September. Despite the chaotic beginning to the week, we all correctly predicted Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Miami, Seattle, Buffalo, L.A. Chargers, Denver and New England. The six teams that made us look like turkeys were Green Bay, Dallas, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, N.Y. Jets and Carolina.
