There’s a new leader in the race for the Surfy Trophy, and for the first time this season it isn’t Glenn. Call it a November swoon, a midseason stumble, or simply bad juju, but it has been a stunning reversal of fortunes for the Senior Bro, who built a 4-game lead over the first six weeks of the season only to lose five out of the next six weeks as Sean made has made his case for why he deserves a seventh consecutive GBF championship.

And for the Junior Bro, a geologist by trade, it’s been something like chipping away at a mountain a few pebbles at a time — one-split weeks that he has captured again and again and again and again, turning the least desirable of matchups to his advantage until finally overtaking the competition. Week 12 was yet another example.

Add Atlanta to the list of teams Glenn would like to forget about. For the second week in a row the Falcons managed to ruin his day in an NFC South matchup, rebounding from last week’s defeat at home to Carolina by heading west to New Orleans where they took advantage of the Saints’ impotent and mistake-prone offense to secure a 24-10 victory in the only split of the week.

It wasn’t truly a bad week despite that, as the Bros nailed most of the 14 games. Ben finished first at 12-2, expanding his overall lead to six games up on second-place Sean, who went 11-3 to break a tie with Glenn. The Senior Bro went 10-4 for third and dropped to last in the overall standings. We all correctly picked New England, Chicago, Kansas City, Baltimore, Detroit, Seattle, Green Bay, Jacksonville, the L.A. Rams and San Francisco. The only victor everyone overlooked was Buffalo in the Thursday nighter.
