Sunday may have been Veterans Day, but when it comes to the NawFuL lately it has been the young’uns showing up their elders on the gridiron. Guys like Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold have been getting a lot of press this season, largely because the big names like Tom Brady, Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger are showing at least a little tarnish on their battle-scarred armor, if not outright cracks. The fresh young faces aren’t all equally successful yet, but they represent the future in a rapidly evolving league.

Add Mitchell Trubisky to that list. The 24-year-old quarterback and his Chicago Bears have been flying under the radar much of this season — so much so that the Gehlke Bros. hadn’t split a game involving the team until Week 10, and it would prove the only source of action in yet another bye-shortened week.

The Junior Bro picked Detroit, and he had history on his side: the Lions had defeated the Bears in nine of their last ten meetings. But Chicago came in with the division lead, and on Sunday they showed why they deserve it, breaking out to a 26-0 advantage before Matthew Stafford and Co. managed their first touchdown just before halftime. While the Lions got a bit closer in the second half, they couldn’t get close enough. The 34-22 final fell to the Senior Bro, inching him back into contention in the Surfy standings at 2 games behind.

Glenn won the week with a 9-5 record. Sean was second at 8-6. Ben finished third at 6-8. We all correctly picked the wins of New Orleans, Indianapolis and Washington. No one predicted victory for Cleveland, Buffalo or Tennessee.
