Week 2 was the sort that makes it appear deceptively simple to pick winners in the NawFuL (just witness the sea of green on our picks chart), and if anyone was looking for an upset or two to shake things up in the Gehlke Bros. Football standings, then it was a NawFuL time to be out on that limb. It isn’t too many weeks you’ll go 13-3 and wind up in the cellar, yet that is exactly where the Senior Bro finds himself in the Surfy race as the 2017 season heads deeper into its opening quarter.

The Bros tallied three splits between them, all Sunday afternoon games, and despite both missing out on Thursday’s win by the Texans they managed to run the table on Sunday morning. Then came the splits. Little good ever seems to happen in Los Angeles, and so it was that both the city’s host teams came up short for Glenn, with the Rams falling to the visiting Redskins, 27-20, and the Chargers losing to the Dolphins when kicker Younghoe Koo missed a game-winning field goal as time expired — the second time in two games their rookie kicker has failed to connect in a critical situation.

Sean’s near-perfect day was spoiled only by the Dallas-Denver game, which was suspended for a long time in the second quarter by a lightning storm. It wasn’t long enough for the Cowboys, who couldn’t find an answer to the Broncos’ D in an emphatic 42-17 loss. Still, it was the Junior Bro’s second successful weekend in a row, as he expanded his season lead to three games.

How good were the Bros in Week 2? So good that Sean has to share his overall best 14-2 mark with his nephew Ben; King Chaos was equal to the task, missing out only on the wins of Tampa Bay and Detroit. Glenn was third at 13-3, but gets off the goose egg with his first split victory of the season. We collectively correctly guessed 10 of the 16 winners this week, and there were no teams we all missed.
