Sometimes it's not what you do, but what you DON'T do that can mean the difference between a good week and a decidedly bad one. If the Senior Bro should manage to hoist the Surfy Trophy high for a fourth consecutive year, he may well look back to Week 14 as the pivotal moment in a season that has seen several of them.

On its face, Glenn's winning week would appear to be a case of taking two out of three splits on Sunday morning. Despite Denver's 13-10 loss at Tennessee, the Senior Bro got the two victories he needed in Miami's rain-soaked 26-23 win over Arizona and Carolina's 28-16 defeat of visiting San Diego, extending his lead to 2 games in the Surfy standings with three weeks to play. But as Sean said apprehensively on our Sunday morning picks call, Week 14 offered plenty of reasons to think twice about official predictions.

For Glenn's part, that rethinking throughout Saturday and into the wee hours of Sunday convinced him to NOT pick Cleveland, Buffalo or Seattle — all three losers on Sunday, but teams a more optimistic and self-assured prognosticator might have been able to make a case for. Ultimately the Senior Bro couldn't, and that healthy skepticism likely kept him from returning to the 1-game deficit he faced three weeks ago.

Glenn's 12-4 record paced the field for his first back-to-back winning week of the season. Sean was second at 11-5. Ben failed to crack .500 by going 7-9 to finish third. We all managed to correctly pick Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Atlanta and New England. No one correctly guessed Houston or the New York Giants — not even after thinking about it for a while.
