Another season of Gehlke Bros. Football is officially under way, and if there is any indication that this year might not be like the past two, it came right off the bat with Week 1 picks. The Senior Bro led from start to finish in 2015, but he finds himself in the cellar -- albeit a shallow one -- just 16 games into the 2016 schedule, while the Chaos Kid leads the pack.

We were all in agreement with the Thursday night opener, unanimously selecting the Broncos for what turned out to be a nail-biting victory as the Panthers missed what would have been a game-winning field goal. Last-second kicks -- and misses -- proved to be a theme for several of the weekend's games.

Glenn and Sean came up with a modest three splits for opening week. Two of those were played Sunday morning amid Patriot Day commemorations. The Senior Bro took the first game when Baltimore held off visiting Buffalo in a 13-7 snoozer. But the Junior Bro evened the score when Cincinnati shook the monkey off its back with its first win ever at the Meadowlands in a 23-22 triumph over the New York Jets -- a game decided on a Bengals field goal with 47 seconds left.

Several other games Sunday came down to late field goal tries, including New Orleans missing from long range in Oakland's thrilling win, Detroit's late boot to beat Indianapolis, and Arizona's botched snap that cost a win against New England.

There were no such late heroics in Pittsburgh's 38-16 triumph over Washington in the first game of Monday night's double-header, which secured a Week 1 victory for Sean in the battle of the Bros. It is the first time Sean has led Glenn since Week 12 of the 2013 season.

Ben found the greatest success in Week 1, going 12-4 to pace the field. Sean was second at 11-5, while Glenn got off to a 10-6 start for third place. We all correctly picked Denver, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Green Bay, Seattle, New York Giants and San Francisco for wins. We all missed the victories by Tampa Bay and Detroit.
