When things are going your way, even your bad days can end up good. That is what happened to the Senior Bro in Week 8, after getting things off to a disastrous start with a game that was just about over even before the Gehlke Bros. had woken up for their Sunday morning phone call.

The first of what eventually became five splits was the pre-dawn "London game" between the Lions and the Chiefs. Sean didn't hesitate to pick Kansas City on Thursday morning, but Glenn debated right up to Saturday night before pulling the trigger on Detroit -- a decision that proved to be a poor one. The Chiefs, in what was supposed to be a home game for them, blasted the luckless Lions, 45-10.

For the Junior Bro, who hasn't had much to cheer about since Week 5, the Chiefs win looked like it might set the tone for the rest of the day. Indeed, he also cashed in on another big-brotherly miscue when Glenn switched his initial pick of Minnesota to Chicago, and the Vikings went on to a win a come-from-behind thriller with a touchdown inside the 2-minute warning and a field goal at the buzzer, 23-20.

But much as it was last season, the football mojo has been on the Senior Bro's side. His path to redemption in Week 8 began when the Ravens came from behind to beat the visiting Chargers, 29-26, on a last-second field goal. Then it was the Raiders showing some swagger against the Jets in a 34-20 win at the Coliseum.

That set up what couldn't have been a more exciting rubber game between two undefeated clubs, Green Bay and Denver, each looking to go 7-0. Aaron Rodgers may be the public favorite to win the next Stupor Bore, but Peyton Manning showed that it's too soon to count out his aging arm, as the Broncos took a 29-10 Sunday night win that pushed the Senior Bro's lead in the Surfy Trophy standings to 8 games.

Glenn won the week with his third straight 10-4 record. Sean was second at 9-5, but it wasn't all bad news for the Junior Bro as he regained a tie for second place in the overall standings. That is because Ben went 7-7 in his third-place finish for the week. We all correctly picked New England's win on Thursday night, as well as winners Arizona and St. Louis. We all missed the wins by Cincinnati (still undefeated) and Tampa Bay.
