The Bros found themselves traveling in opposite directions in Week 3, both geographically and in the Surfy standings. While Glenn hit the pavement for a vacation trip to Washington and Oregon, Sean took in the tufas of California’s Mono Lake during a weekend camping excursion. And just as most pro football teams prefer the friendly confines of their own stadium, the Junior Bro might be happy to leave the road behind.

The road, however, was mostly kind to the teams that prevailed in this week’s four splits and boosted the Senior Bro’s overall lead to 6 games. Cincinnati helped Sean early by defeating Baltimore 28-24, but it was Oakland’s 27-20 victory at Cleveland that not only snapped the team’s 11-game road losing streak but also helped Glenn stay even. Minnesota provided the lone victory by a home team, 31-14 over San Diego, to help the Senior Bro preserve his lead. He expanded it by two games when Denver got its third win of the season at winless Detroit, 24-12.

In all, eight teams won on the road this week, and perhaps it was being surrounded by all the blue and green of the defending NFC champion Seahawks that rubbed off in positive fashion on the Senior Bro’s prognosticating abilities; Glenn won the week with a high-flying 14-2 record. Sean turned in a 12-4 mark for second, which most weeks would have been enough to gain some ground. Ben went 10-6 in finishing third. We all correctly picked the New York Giants, Carolina, Atlanta, New England, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Arizona. The only team that outsmarted all of us was Philadelphia, which picked up its first win of the season.
