After stumbling through opening week, the Junior Bro looked to turn things around in Week 2 starting with the Thursday night game between the Broncos and Chiefs. Peyton Manning and Co. had looked vulnerable in their narrow victory over Baltimore, while Alex Smith seemed to have Kansas City pointed in the right direction after a dominant performance over Houston. Perhaps their home opener would be their best chance to shake off a 1-12 record against Manning and their longtime division rivals. Except that fate had other ideas. After scoring what looked like a game-winning touchdown with barely 2 minutes left in the game, the Chiefs crumbled. Manning drove the Broncos 80 yards to tie it, then on the following drive the Chiefs fumbled close to their goal line and the Broncos scooped it up for the game-winning score, 31-24.

The shocking turnabout not only sent the fans at Arrowhead Stadium home unhappy, it gave Glenn the advantage heading into the weekend. Sean returned from a week of camping facing a 5-game deficit before the second Sunday of the young season. The Bros managed three more splits in the Sunday action.

The Senior Bro picked up a second split victory as Johnny Manziel and the Browns defeated Marcus Mariota and the up-and-coming Titans, 28-24. But Sean kept things close as Atlanta edged New York, 24-20, in the Giants' second late-game collapse in as many weeks. That left the afternoon game between Dallas and Philadelphia to decide things, and they were decided in favor of the visiting Cowboys, who won despite Tony Romo's fractured clavicle, 20-10. The result enabled Sean to salvage a split of the spilts, which while not knocking any games off his deficit in the Surfy standings probably felt like a win under the circumstances.

There were plenty of missed opportunities for everyone in Week 2, as upsets left Glenn, Sean and Ben with identical 8-8 records. Sunday morning saw all our mutually correct predictions in New England, Carolina, Arizona, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. There were four teams none of us picked to win, including Washington, Jacksonville, Oakland and the New York Jets.
