Many weeks it's difficult to make heads or tails of the NawFuL schedule, so when someone tries to do it literally — by the flip of a coin — there's bound to be plenty of excitement. Finding himself down by the equivalent of three touchdowns and a pair of field goals with less than a quarter to play and staring at fourth and long, the Junior Bro resorted to the Gehlke Bros. Football equivalent of a fake punt in Week 15. The problem with such trick plays is that they frequently don't work.

With games on both Thursday and Saturday, Sean gave the coin toss a whirl and came up with a pair of splits. But the Buccaneers failed to uphold their end of the bargain on Thursday night, losing to the Rams, 31-23. The Cowboys appeared the better bet on Saturday until they lost a late lead to the visiting Jets in a 19-16 defeat. That put the Junior Bro two games further behind coming in to Sunday, so he decided to rethink the coin-flip idea: he substituted the penny he had been using for a Kennedy half-dollar.

With 50 times more prognosticating power now at his fingertips, Sean proceeded to boldly toss his way through the 14 remaining Sunday and Monday games, producing in the process nine more splits for an incredible 11 splits in a single week — possibly a Gehlke Bros. record. Five of the games were up early, with the remaining four on the afternoon card.

It quickly became evident that while JFK may have been a great president, he apparently knew nothing about how to forecast the modern NawFuL. Sean did manage to take two of the early games, winning on the Falcons' 23-17 victory at the Jags as well as the marquee contest of the day, Carolina's 38-35 win at the Giants to remain unbeaten. After that... well, let's just say the Chernobyl meltdown looked minor by comparison.

The Senior Bro took the remaining seven contests, including the Vikings over the Bears, 38-17, the Chiefs over the Ravens, 34-14, and the Redskins in a 35-25 win over the Bills. He also swept the four afternoon splits, which saw the Seahawks take a 30-13 victory from the Browns, the Packers in a 30-20 win at the Raiders, the Chargers 30-14 over the Dolphins, and the Bengals over Sean's beloved-but-fading 49ers, 24-14. Just like that, what had been an 11-game gap is now 18. In football parlance: fake punt attempt fumbled and returned by opposing team for touchdown.

Glenn cruised to the week's best record at 12-4, while Ben turned in an 8-8 performance for second place. Sean ended the week in third at 5-11. Because of all the splits there was only one game we mutually picked correctly — New England's home win against the Titans. There were no games we all got wrong, and we're sure JFK would approve of that stat.
