If there is one week on the NawFuL schedule that promises a feast of football follies, it has to be Thanksgiving weekend. With a trio of matchups on Thursday and a return to a full course menu of 16 games for the first time since the bye weeks began in early October, anything can and in this case did happen.

The Gehlke Bros don't believe in moderation at Thanksgiving. We heaped our plates full with six splits spread across the three days of Week 12 football action. We begin with...

THE APPETIZERS: Sean got the first taste of victory on Thursday morning when the Lions, playing in their traditional Thanksgiving host role, showed little hospitality toward the inept Eagles, romping to their third straight win, 45-14. But in the true Thanksgiving spirit of sharing, Glenn got to nibble at the winner's table too, when the undefeated Panthers continued their victorious ways in Dallas, 33-14, knocking out Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo for the rest of the season in the process.

THE MAIN COURSE: Sunday saw us dish up three more tasty matchups. In the first, the Raiders overcame the Titans and themselves for a 24-21 win that put the Senior Bro a game up. The Junior Bro won one when the Redskins took their fifth in a row at home in a 20-14 toppling of the NFC East leading Giants. But it was Glenn who got the long side of the wishbone, as the Jets swept their season series against the Dolphins, 38-20, guaranteeing that the Junior Bro would gain no ground in the Surfy standings for another week.

DESSERT: The Monday night matchup between AFC North foes Baltimore (3-7) and Cleveland (2-8) appeared on paper about as tempting as a slice of month-old pumpkin pie, but we held our noses and swallowed it for our sixth split of the week, Glenn taking the Ravens on the road and Sean going with the Browns. It was a tight contest, with momentum swinging the Browns' direction late in the game as they tied it at 27 and then picked off Ravens backup QB Matt Schaub to set up what should have been the game-winning field goal. But remember those football follies we mentioned earlier? The Browns provided one for the ages when kicker Travis Coons had his 51-yard field goal attempt blocked and it was returned by Ravens defender Will Hill for the game-winning touchdown with no time remaining.

The 33-27 Ravens win was a bizarre finish to a week that also saw the Patriots lose their first game of the season on a snowy field in Denver one night earlier. It turned what should have been a second straight stalemate week into a 2-game gain for the Senior Bro, who now leads the standings by 10 games in his quest for a third consecutive Surfy Trophy with five weeks remaining.

Glenn won the week with a 10-6 record, while Ben took second place at 9-7. Sean was third at 8-8. We all correctly picked Cincinnati, Kansas City and Arizona, while we all failed to correctly guess Seattle. And as a side note, we all went 1-2 on Thanksgiving Day, each picking a different game correctly. That doesn't happen very often.
