The 49ers and Packers both locked up division championships on Sunday, while several other teams moved closer to the brink of season-ending oblivion. We've reached that point of the year when interesting playoff scenarios start to develop, when desperation motivates otherwise mediocre teams to play above their level on a prayer that they might (barely) make the cut.
It is such desperation that motivates the Senior Bro these days, trying to erase what was once a 7-game deficit with a dwindling number of weeks remaining. In Week 13, he managed to chip another game off the Junior Bro's lead. In the only split on the schedule, the host Cardinals overcame a late deficit against the Cowboys to send their game into overtime, where they won 19-13 on a 52-yard touchdown by LaRod Stephens-Howling. Sean still maintains a 5-game lead with four weeks left in the season.
Sean regained his 3-game lead in the overall standings, as Ben's picks didn't pan out. The Chaos Kid went just 1-4 in his head-to-head matchups with Sean, winning only the Monday nighter.
Glenn posted the week's best record at 12-4. Sean was 11-5, for second place, and Ben wound up third at 8-8. We all picked winners Baltimore, Pittsburgh, N.Y. Jets, New Orleans, San Francisco, Green Bay and New England. We all failed to predict the victories of Carolina, Kansas City and Houston.
THURSDAY NIGHT SNOOZER ALERT: They schedule 'em, we don't. Cleveland at Pittsburg will kick off Week 14. We'll be ready for them.
