Home field disadvantage

When is there no place like home? When you're a road team in the NawFuL, apparently. It doesn't seem to matter much these days if you are playing in front of the home crowd, because as often as not it seems the visitors are finding ways to win. Years ago we called that parity. Now we call it mediocrity.

Whatever you call it, it worked to the Junior Bro's advantage in Week 2, as he overcame last week's slow start to take the lead in the Gehlke Bros. Football season standings. In the four games Sean and Glenn split, Sean had all four visitors. He won three of the four and came close to a sweep.

Green Bay went to Carolina and scored a convincing win. San Francisco traveled to St. Louis and picked off its division rivals. Then Dallas rode into Miami and used a strong second half to win going away. It took overtime for Detroit to hold off Minnesota and save the Senior Bro from what might have been a devastating sweep. What do each of those winning teams have in common? They're all 2-0. Hmmmm...

Sean's 10-6 performance wins the week, while Glenn and Ben tied at 8-8. Sean now has a 1-game advantage over his big bro. Our collective prognosticating powers shone brightly in picking winners Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Denver. But none of us counted on Cleveland winning a 96-point shootout, nor on New Orleans dropping its second straight.
